Emerging London-based producer Talik delivers a mediative mix for podcast 93, giving us an insight into some of her key influences.
Talik’s first step into music production was only last year, seizing the opportunity of being mentored by Martyn via his 3024 Patreon programme when it was first launched. From the get-go, it has seemed like a natural step for Talik who has taken it in her stride and already been clocking up releases for Pressure Dome, Intercept Records and 3024 as well as being supported by DJ Mag, Mary Anne Hobbs, Martha, Crack Mag, NME and more. Her debut EP for Intercept, ‘Cold Silver’, was released around a year ago to this date and today comes full circle with Martyn stepping up for, an aptly named, time freeze remix of the title track.
The mix is reflective of Talik’s production output so far which is often centred around natural textures. From the floaty, dreamlike melodies on the ‘Let It Break’ EP to the beautiful tension between light and dark on ‘Cold Silver’ and the introspective, percussive driven single ‘Sound Of Your Shadow’, Talik has quickly become an artist to watch out for.
