A captivating session with heavy UK influence spanning across bass, pop, experimental, drill and more from Leeds-based DJ and dancer, marjai.
This might be marjai’s first mix for a blog but over the last few years, he has been immersing himself in the local scene and beyond.
Hosting an ecclectic residency on Sable Radio for the last year, spinning out club and dancehall to dub and noise rock, marjai has since gone on to co-found newly launched radio platform NARR with a crew of “S’leeds’ loveliest wrong’uns”. The station aims to create more space for experimental sounds and marginalised scenes, and also features spoken format shows exploring themes such as hauntology, Indian cinema and sex positivity.
During normal life, you could find marjai behind the decks at the famed local listening bar Outlaws Yacht Club, or repping House of Flava – a QTIPoC kiki house – in the North’s flourishing vogue ballroom scene.
