For our third podcast, the world’s least responsible medical tag-team Dr. Blowfin and DJ Paramedic have stepped up again for the biggest return since Stone Cold crashed the WWF Invasion.
Our resident ragamuffins met up recently to chew the fat for a few hours but, gagging to throw some of their new heat down, couldn’t resist firing up the decks and pressing record.
This mix offers an insight into the creative process of finding the right groove between the two. It is undoubtedly a little rough around the edges but, being devoid of any constraints from playing to a crowd, it displays a rare moment of two DJs mucking about with total musical freedom.
Although seemingly indulgent, both selectors, in selfless earnestness, quickly reach for the records they have been itching to show each other for weeks. The mix consequently showcases only the most red-hot obscurities in their record bags.
It is also a mix brimming with energy, with the two’s affable competitiveness and youthful brashness clearly apparent. They seamlessly flit between genres and endlessly pivot the mix in different directions, yet through the smog of the 909 showdown between Blowfin’s power electro and Paramedic’s riotous breaks, there is clear evidence of the pair’s complementary styles.
So, if you’re looking for a loose entanglement of house, techno, breaks, electro, rave, trance, tribal, ambient and downtempo; then this is a mix for you.
