Live from Field Maneuvers x INTERVENTION

We’re bringing you some heat live and direct from INTERVENTION’s takeover at the 11th edition of Field Maneuvers with sets from Ifeoluwa, Metrist and Wheelman.

Founded by Ifeoluwa, INTERVENTION is a collective that runs DJ and production workshops alongside events across the UK. Celebrating its 8th birthday this week, INTERVENTION has hosted takeovers with the likes of Keep Hush, Resident Advisor and Risen Festival which have comprised of a mixture of club nights, talks and panels aiming to bring awareness to pressing issues within the industry and beyond, giving back to communities as well as making it more accessible. In 2020 arounds their 4th birthday, INTERVENTION released a compilation to raise money for two North London charities who provide specialist mental health support for Black People and POC with contributions from Lee Gamble, Loraine James, LUXE, I. JORDAN, Jurango, Kouslin and more.

Speaking about the INTERVENTION takeover at FM, Ifeoluwa says, “FM is a special place. It’s like experiencing unfiltered fun surrounded by your favourite people and an endless supply of music that never misses. It’s the soundtrack to all soundtracks. It’s heating the very best of the very best—but of all genres.

I heard the most beautiful poetry and spoken word from Deen Ø, genre-defying sets from the whole Rye Wax crew, the excellently named Packet Inn was never without bangers, our takeover made me tear up, the Dalston superstore nearly caused me to pull a muscle I was dancing so much, especially to Taahliah and Nadine Noor and beneath the full moon sky, Josey Rebelle going b2b with Ben Sims, two heavyweights all together renewed my faith in club culture and why INTERVENTION exists and spaces that allows us to be us existed and is needed more than ever.

And that’s huge, considering I’m pretty jaded most of the time, thanks to the UK and general fascist politics around us. Having Wheelman, a certified legend behind the decks and champion for everything we believe in and Metrist, a long-time supporter of what we stand for and also one of the best producers and DJs we have, was a special moment. I took so many photos and videos, I finally understood what Regina George’s mum felt but with more leftfield bangers.

It’s been a month, but the feeling of contentness, the bullseye I hit in darts and the falling in love with it all – in all forms – is carrying me into autumn. It’s a hard thing to describe. For example, each day feels like a completely new adventure. The FM crew were incredible! I’m pretty open about my struggles with anxiety and access needs being autistic but the team went above and beyond. Us having fun and being safe while doing it was a top priority and not in that performative corporation way but because they have a love for what they do and the music and all of us. No matter what 2025 has in store for me, I’ll be there, front left with a slushy pornstar martini in hand.”

Slated as one for the books, the 2024 edition of Field Maneuvers was meant to the be the last one in its current iteration. Bringing out all the stocks for the final affair, Field Maneuvers built new installations, additional venues and brought together a stacked line-up with an incredible run of collective takeovers, making it one of its best yet. Due to this, the FM directors are currently reflecting whats to come and recently announced that they ‘might have found the glimmer of light that could see us keep going in 2025 after all’.
